Now What? Finally, Mail Delivery
As of noon on Tuesday June 13, all the locks are in place in our new, stronger, more secure mailboxes. The USPS technician on site confirmed and assured us the mail is assigned and scheduled for June 14 delivery. Our expectation is that all mail held by the USPS since Monday, June 5 for box installation will be in the June 14 delivery. Any mail held from the earlier break-in to back boxes should also be delivered.
If you are still missing expected mail after the mail resumes, allow a day or two for possible catch up. Then, if you are still missing items go to the post office and check, in case some was not released from hold. The HOA is not responsible! This is a USPS system and procedure. They are the ones who can resolve any problems.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I find my box?
It is the same location as the old boxes! Your key envelope shows the Unit Letter number along with the Box Number. We have placed the Unit Letters A through N on the boxes to help you. Locate your box number on that unit.
Can I mark my address on it like the old boxes?
Please, no! We will do that for you. Do not use permanent marker on the boxes. We are in the process of labeling all the boxes. It is time consuming and a volunteer operation. Give us some time to work on this. If you need a reminder, use painter masking tape and make a temporary label. It will be removed when we add the vinyl label.
What if my key doesn’t work?
Make sure you are checking the right box and number.
What if I have the wrong key?
We’ve done everything to make sure you have the right key for your address. Open the box and check that the key matches your address inside the box itself, as this is how the Post Office delivers to each address. If they do not match, contact the post office right away. You could also check with Kwasi at Morris Management to see if there was a reported mix up.
Other items of noteā¦
We have an ongoing to-do list for the mailbox station:
- House number labels will be applied in the next few weeks to each box and street names along the top of the box. Until then, there’s a diagram on the end of each set of unit boxes to help you identify your box. The unit box letters are already noted. You can find the unit letter at the center top of each unit and below next to parcel boxes.
- The lights will be reconnected very soon. This requires an electrical upgrade of material and professional installation as it was cut during the vandalism.
- Once the electrical work is completed, we will have the area cleaned up by pressure washing. Very likely we will need to make repairs and paint, too. This is being assessed with the cleaning.
- The bulletin board is also getting cleaned up and revitalized. There may be few posts for the next couple of weeks while work is in progress.
- Our Bridlewood Little Library is also slated for a makeover. Watch for its new home this summer.
We really hope this is the last of the series on mailbox articles! It’s time to focus on other neighborhood activities, such as joining us for a neighborhood Ice Cream Social on National Night Out on August 1.
