Yes, we were broken into again during the wee hours on May 30, 2023. There is so little left to be taken. Only one small box remains untouched. Police were on site quickly thanks to a Bridlewood resident who called in. The Post office has been notified and immediately restored the locks on the front facing boxes.

Now, about keys to the new mailboxes. Everything needed is in place.

Important dates and steps:

  • Saturday June 3. Last mail delivery until new install.
  • Saturday June 3. Key distribution 9 am to 1 pm.
  • Monday June 5. Retrieve anything left in your mailbox (for front side boxes) by evening.
  • Tuesday June 6. Post office picks up any mail left in boxes and removes the locks.
  • Tuesday June 6. Key distribution 4 pm to 7 pm.
  • Wednesday and Thursday June 7 and 8. Installation of new boxes.

Finally! The new boxes will look the same but have much better security. Your box location will remain the same as well.

On Saturday, June 3 from 9 am to 1 pm and on Tuesday June 6 from 4 pm to 7 pm, Bridlewood Board members will be distributing the new mailbox keys.

Here’s how it works:

  • Tables will be set up at the mailbox station for you to sign for and receive your keys.
  • All recipients will need to physically sign for their keys.
  • Homeowners and renters will need picture ID to receive their keys.

Note: Renters will need a Key Authorization signed by the property management company or homeowner, available at the mailbox station bulletin board or download authorization form here. Renters will also need to bring a lease agreement (just the front page with your name, not financial details) as proof of lease status. If you do not have a lease contract (such as family member use of home) then the homeowner can include a note of non-lease usage along with the form or come pick up the key for you.

Renters are urged to complete the homeowner authorization form before you arrive to pick up your keys. You may not provided your keys if you don’t have the complete authorization form and proof of rental.

It is expected that all mail will be back to full delivery status June 9 or 10, including that which was on hold for the vandalized boxes. However, we recommend that you make a final downtown pick up after June 9 to assure everything has been retrieved since the hold.

Be sure you also stop by the Community Development table. We’ll introduce you to our website, share neighborhood opportunities, and invite you to upcoming events. Come say hello.
